Renowned washint player Artist Melaku Gelaw passed away

Famous Ethiopian washint player and an individual from the powerful yet since a long time ago dissolved Orchestra Ethiopia, Melaku Gelaw, who settled in the United States in 1996, passed on Tuesday 2/13/2018 in Arlington, Virginia, his family declared.

A companion and close partner of the regarded author, choreographer and director Tesfaye Lemma, Melaku earned fame amid the 1970s, when he joined Orchestra Ethiopia, where he could exhibit a round and full musical energy on his woodwind. He was serving for 28 years as a teacher of traditional music in Yared school in Addis ababa. From his student’s, the well known artist Seleshi Demisse was one among many.
