The Federal Attorney General today dropped charges against seven suspects, including Bekele Gerba.
The other suspects are Gurmessa Ayana, Addisu Bulala, Dejene Tafa, Getu Garuma, Tesfaye Liben and Beyene Ruda.
Recently, the Federal High Court sentenced some suspects to one year and others to six months in prison for contempt of court.
Hence, the Attorney General decided their cases to be reviewed by the Federal Board of Pardon and join the society once the decision is approved by President Mulatu Teshome.
The move is part of the decisions made by Executive Committee of EPRDF to drop charges against and pardon politicians and individuals in order to build national consensus and widen the political space.
